Real accountability requires real statistics. When a group reports that more than 250,000 people have been killed in Syria, it might mean many different things. The group might have a list of 250,000 individuals, identified by name and place of death. This is what nongovernmental organizations like the Violations Documentation Centre, the Syrian Network for Human Rights, and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights do.
